Rachel Riley was left embarrassed when she was forced to spell out another rude word on Countdown.

The presenter giggled as she moved the tiles to spell ‘gobs****’ during Thursday’s episode of the show, after Dictionary Corner’s Suzi Dent read it out.

Adrian Chiles, who was also in Dictionary Corner, refused to say the expletive out loud as the episode was being broadcast before the watershed.

“We’ve got an eight for you, and I didn’t think of it, so I’m going to hand over to Suzi to tell us what it is,” he said.

After Dent read out the word, host Nick Hewer hit back: “Are you allowed to say that?”

She replied: “Well, it's vulgar slang so you have to be careful, but it means stupid or ignorant person.”

Riley has been forced to spell out a series of awkward words on the teatime show this year tanks to Dent’s wizardry with words.

Hewer reprimanded her back in February when she spelt out the word ‘s***head’, which amused viewers.

He joked: “Susie, wash your mouth out with soap. You know your parents are watching. I'll see you afterwards.”

Show bosses bleeped out the word, and despite being the highest scoring, Riley didn’t spell it out.
