Piers Morgan took aim at Susanna Reid’s love life on Good Morning Britain, savagely telling her she would have more luck if she wore a mask.

The controversial presenter made the jibe after Reid put on a surgeons mask in a bid to avoid catching a cold from Morgan.

“You should wear that generally,” he said.

Reid asked: “What to keep me on mute?”

Taking a savage swipe, Morgan fired back: “It might help you on the dating circuit because things haven’t been going well.”

Reid appeared to tease she is in a relationship as she replied: “Actually things are going perfectly well.”

Morgan's latest remark comes a week after he attempted to flatter his co-star over her recent weight loss.

Reid revealed she has lost a stone since giving up alcohol, but joked she still has a double chin.

Morgan said: “You’re looking quite hot I think.”

Reid clapped back: “Thanks – it is quite hot in here.”

Clearly unscathed by her retort, Morgan later revealed on Twitter that he thought his co-host was “hot” before she shed the pounds.

He posted: “To be fair, I thought she was ‘hot’ before she lost a stone.”

The duo were recently reunited after a lengthy summer break which saw them replaced by Jeremy Kyle, Eamonn Holmes, Adil Ray, Ranvir Singh and Kate Garraway.

Good Morning Britain is on ITV, weekdays at 6am
