The broadcaster jokingly took a stand

Piers Morgan had a meltdown and told Good Morning Britain producers to “stick their segments where the sun don’t shine” after they told him off.

Morgan made a defiant stand against show bosses as they scolded him for running 10 minutes over time.

The broadcaster ranted: “Apparently we’re 10 minutes over on the programme. I never understand that in our ears – it doesn’t matter. The show is always two and a half hours and it will be whatever we decide it’s going to be.

“If you’ve got your carefully crafted segments, you can stick them where the sun don’t shine.”

Co-presenter Charlotte Hawkins told him he needs to “stop talking”, to which Morgan decided to go one step further and remove his earpiece.

“Eleven minutes over? So what? Go away. No we’re al fresco,” he said. “Now anything can happen because I can’t hear them and there is nothing they can do. Powerless.”

Good Morning Britain viewers found his latest rant “hilarious”, and praised him for “going rogue”.

One wrote: “That’s why @GMB your show is the best breakfast TV! It’s real, funny & serious all at the same time. Not ‘stiff’ like some of the other breakfast shows! Go @piersmorgan would love you to be on 5 days a week.”

Another joked: “You tell them Sir Piers Morgan. Show them just who’s in charge there.”

A third tweeted: “Piers makes the show...Good job @piersmorgan give him more money, he is worth it!!”

Good Morning Britain is on ITV, weekdays at 6am
