The nominations for the National Television Awards 2017 have been revealed – and there’s some tight competition in there.

Strictly Come Dancing judge Len Goodman is taking on The Great British Bake Off’s Mary Berry in the TV Judge category – after each quit their respective TV series in 2016.

Goodman stepped down from his head judge role at the end of the last Strictly series, making a final appearance in the Christmas Special, while Berry left the Bake Off over the show’s move to Channel 4.

Also nominated in the category are Nicole Scherzinger, Simon Cowell, and David Walliams.

Another tight race will see Mel and Sue go up against Ant and Dec in the TV Presenter category. While the Geordie duo have won the gong 15 years in a row, Mel and Sue’s final series of Bake Off could knock their chances of a 16 year streak.

Also going head to head are the BBC and ITV’s historical epics Poldark and Victoria in the period drama category. The two shows were pitched against each other in a tight ratings battle in the coveted Sunday night 9pm slot.

Victoria’s Jenna Coleman is also up for Drama Performance, alongside Peaky Blinders’ Cillian Murphy, Happy Valley’s Sarah Lancashire, and Tom Hiddleston in The Night Manager.

The National TV Awards take place on January 25 at The O2 in London, with fans able to vote for their winners ahead of the show.
