Dr Alex appears to be suffering from a bad case of heat stroke as well as sunburn.

The clearly delirious medic genuinely believes he’s going to be “really good friends” with Alexandra, despite getting more flustered over a Ferrari than the make-up artist.

The couple had a furious showdown with Alexandra branding him “pathetic” for his decision to recouple with her before dumping her hours after they enjoyed a date.

In scenes to be shown tonight, he confides in Jack, saying: “I think I just need to speak to her this morning and check she’s alright. Because the thing is we get on really well.

“I honestly think we’ll be really good friends. She has a laugh, she gets my humour. We’ll be good friends, it’ll be a real shame not to.”

In what will come as a shock to no one, Alexandra isn’t really feeling it and refuses to take the medic up on his begging.

“It is going to be a little bit awkward between Alex and I today,” she says. “I definitely need some space. I don’t really want to be around him at the moment. There’s no real coming back from this, I can see that. I’ve just got to move forward in a positive way.”

Thankfully she later changes her mind, realising if she speaks to Dr Alex she can call him out again over his behaviour.

“As a female, you can’t help but think that things are progressing in a certain direction, and maybe we are more emotional characters,” she says. “I just need you to know that because obviously it hasn’t worked out with us, but maybe in the future just be cautious of that.

“The things that you said to me yesterday on our date, that you’d like to continue dating me on the outside, and just things that you were saying, maybe led me on a little bit if you were feeling doubtful. A girl really holds onto things that guys say, and we believe every word of it.”

Is this the end for the couple? With the islanders tasked with voting for the couple's they think should leave it may be all over.
