Peaky Blinders and Poldark are set to battle it out for the most prestigious categories at this year’s TV Choice Awards, while Ant & Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway and Love Island are also nominated.

Both BBC dramas are nominated for Best Drama Series, against Doctor Foster and Outlander, with Poldark lead Aidan Turner and Peaky Blinders’ Cillian Murphy and Helen McCrory all nominated for best actor and actress.

Saturday Night Takeaway is up for Best Entertainment Show yet again despite being hosted by Declan Donnelly only for the last two weeks owing to Ant McPartlin stepping down from his television commitments.

The light-hearted show will take on Gogglebox, Celebrity Juice and The Graham Norton Show for glory.

Leading man: Cillian Murphy is up for Best Actor with Peaky Blinders nominated too

Having taken the summer by storm last series, even leading to TV BAFTA, Love Island is nominated for Best Reality alongside I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here and Channel 4 exports The Island with Bear Grylls and First Dates.

And the usual suspects line up for the chance to be crowned Best Talent Show with Strictly Come Dancing, Dancing on Ice and Britain’s Got Talent all facing off against The Great British Bake Off a year after its lucrative move.

Elsewhere, Best Family Drama will be a four-way tussle between Call The Midwife, Casualty, Doc Martin and The Durrells while Benidorm, The Big Bang Theory, Not Going Out and The Keith & Paddy Picture Show are fighting for Best Comedy.

Down in soapland, Coronation Street, EastEnders, Emmerdale and Hollyoaks will vie for Best Soap with Corrie dominating the individual acting nominations.

The awards, which can be voted for online, will take place in London on September 10.
