When Tommy Fury needed Love Island help there was only one man to call

Boxer Tyson Fury's younger brother is among the 12 contestants looking for love in the new series

Love Island 2019 contestant Tommy Fury made a phone call to past winner Kem Cetinay before flying out to the villa.

20-year-old Tommy, who is the younger brother of boxer Tyson Fury, is one of 12 singletons hoping to find a partner who is their type on paper in this year’s edition of the ITV2 dating contest.

Cetinay, who won the show in 2017 with then-girlfriend Amber Davies, revealed that the new islander phoned him up to ask for “advice” ahead of his reality TV debut.

Speaking on This Morning, Cetinay told hosts Ruth Langsford and Eamonn Holmes: “I don’t actually know [Tommy] personally, but about four days ago, just before he flew out, he rang me.

“He got my number and he wanted some advice, he was really nervous.

“When they go in, they go into lockdown. They’re not announced until they’re in lockdown so they can’t see what’s going on now. So that day he rang me was his last day with his phone and he wanted a little bit of advice.”

The 23-year-old said that he told Tommy to “relax and enjoy it” and “just be yourself.”

In an interview last week, heavyweight boxer Tyson broke the news that his younger brother would be among the singles jetting off to Majorca, joking that Tommy was likely to prove a “hit with the ladies.”

Love Island meet the new villa personalities

“He’s going on a TV show called Love Island,” he told Ariel Helwani’s MMA Show in ESPN.

“He’s a good looking young kid and I think he’s going to be a hit with the ladies on it. He clearly doesn’t look like me because I look like an ogre!”

Discussing his ‘type’ ahead of the show, Tommy told ITV: “I want to end up with a girl where I look at her every morning and think ‘You are gorgeous, I’m so lucky’ and if a thousand girls walked past, I don’t want to look at one of them.”

Love Island returns to ITV2 on Monday, June 3.
