Love Island news: couples take on parenthood before new Jack and new Laura say their goodbyes

Baby love: The babies were back for one night only

Yes yes, we know everybody was waiting for the Love Island lie detector test. But that’s a distant memory because, tonight, the baby challenge arrived!

Precious plastic at the ready, the six couples were visited by the stork (/producers) in the night and blessed with bundles of joy for 24 hours. In reality, the only thing they gave birth to were the names. But it’s all about imagination.

Josh imagined himself pretty much anywhere but in the villa as he clashed with girlfriend Kaz over being an “absent father”.

When the girls left the villa for a ladies lunch, she raged: “I have to say, I don’t feel the same as any of you. Since the day little Prince came into my life, Josh gave him his name, dressed him and then ran a mile.

“I’ve been looking after the baby all day. There’s no father bond there.”

But, nonetheless, the Do Bits Society rebranded as Daddy Day Care for one episode only with Dr Alex proving he’s incapable of yet another thing - being able to run and push a pram.

The resident medic stacked it pretty majorly - after giving the dolls a health check in the kitchen - much to the amusement of the viewers, who his hold over is weakening daily.

Later, prompted by new Jack, Dr Alex explained how to do a c-section in all the gory detail while Wes and the pair of Jack's looked like they were feeling a cross between queasy and awestruck.

And new Jack actually transformed before our very eyes as he bonded with baby Aubrey - even after the shock of finding out their baby is actually a girl - while new Laura struggled to remember their child’s name. To be fair, we only remember hers because it’s the same as somebody else’s.

Despite being one of the most anticipated episodes of the eight weeks, the episode was pretty drama free. The best part perhaps seeing Jack and Dani go from strength to strength.

Dumped: Laura Crane and Jack Fowler have left the island

Bonded by their offspring, the two talked about what their childhoods were like - with Dani revealing her mum, Jo Mas, was actually stricter than Danny Dyer - and what they would be like as parents.

However, as night drew in, the babies were soon gone and the islanders gathered around the fire pit to find out which couple was being dumped. But not before finding out new Jack and new Laura won the parenting challenge. Josh, and therefore Kaz, unsurprisingly failed the challenge after Josh managed to severe a limb from his poor dolly. The Alex's and Wes and Megan also failed.

They still won a party, though, but it wasn't soon before long that Wes and Megan, Josh and Kaz and Jack and new Laura found themselves in the bottom three and at risk of needing to pack hurriedly.

But, in the end, it was new Jack and Laura who left with just days to go until the final.

Love Island continues Thursday at 9pm on ITV2.
