Love Island bosses have shut down claims Georgia Steel has made racist remarks towards fellow contestants.

The show was accused of not airing alleged comments made by Georgia about Samira after a tweet from someone claiming to know a member of the production team went viral.

A post written by a user known as Media Girl, read: “I know someone who works with the production team on Love Island. There’s a lot we’re not seeing on Love Island in regards to Georgia.

“Apparently, she is really catty to the other girls, and says snide, borderline racist remarks.

“She asked Samira about her hair, and how does she wash her weave because since she’s been there she hasn’t seen her do it. Samira was upset but never said nothing because they’re so close to Dani and she doesn’t want to cause drama.

“I don’t know why this wasn’t aired, but it would obviously have caused controversy if it was. She’s said much more, but they are protecting her for some reason.”

A spokesperson for the show denied the claim, telling Standard Online: “There is absolutely no truth to this.”

Georgia divided fans earlier this week after she appeared to lie about what happened on her date with new Jack.

The 22-year-old chose Laura’s man to take on a date and was seen pulling him in for not one, but two kisses over a bottle of champagne, as he flinched.

When quizzed on the kiss by Laura, Georgia claimed it was “mutual” and watched as an upset Laura called time on her relationship with Jack.

The moment was replayed and analysed by Caroline Flack on spin-off show Aftersun, leaving viewers demanding Georgia apologise to Laura.

Love Island is on ITV2, tonight at 9pm
