More than 80,000 people have applied to star on the next series of Love Island.

Thousands of Brits are hoping to follow in the footsteps of this year’s winners Kem Cetinay and Amber Davies who walked away with a new relationship and £50,000.

“There’s an extraordinary demand to be on the show next year,” a source told The Sun.

“We’ve already had over 80,000 applicants after just a week. It seems like more young people than ever want to go on TV, have sex, find love and maybe even make a million pounds. It’s an irresistible combination.”

The news comes days after ITV put out a casting call calling on hopefuls over the age of 18 in search of a “summer of love” to apply.

The advert read: “ITV2 are looking for vibrant singles from across the UK who want to head to the sun, in search of a summer of love.

“The chosen cast will spend time in a luxury villa, getting to know one another.”

Caroline Flack is expected to reprise her role as presenter.

The UK was swept up in Love Island hysteria after the show kicked off in June, with Adele, Liam Gallagher and Stormzy all admitting to being fans.

The dating show smashed reality TV rival Big Brother in the ratings, at times attracting over 2 million viewers, as fans tuned in to watch Camilla Thurlow get dumped by Jonny Mitchell and Muggy Mike Thalassitis attempt to split up Chris Hughes and Olivia Atwood.

Former contestant Chloe Crowhurst gave hope to mourning fans after teasing a potential winter series.

Crowhurst, who presented all the Love Island gossip on This Morning throughout the series, said: “I love doing This Morning and they loved having me. There might be something with me coming back as their reporter for Winter Love Island.”
