Of all the Nineties comebacks that have happened in 2016, the return of ITV’s comedy-drama Cold Feet has been one of the most successful.

Mike Bullen’s Manchester-set series returned 13 years after it originally ended – and has been lauded by fans and critics.

The show’s success looks set to continue, with ITV ordering another eight-episode series for 2017.

“We all said we only wanted to bring Cold Feet back if we could maintain the standard previously set,” explained Bullen.

“I've been blown away by the show's reception among viewers and critics alike. It has exceeded even my hopes. This recommission confirms that we didn't screw it up.

“I shall take a moment to bask in the warm glow... Okay, done that. Now the hard graft resumes.”

The new episodes are set to go into production in March 2017 in Manchester, with Bullen once again on story and scripting duties.

The revival series brought the original cast – including James Nesbitt, Robert Bathurst, Hermione Norris, Fay Ripley, and John Thomson – back, as well as introducing Adam’s grown-up son Matthew.

The first six episodes have seen an average of 7 million viewers tuning in on Monday nights, with the series finale due to air on October 24.
