The jungle must be a good place for Martin Roberts – who divulged his predilection for hugging trees on I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out of Here.

The Homes Under the Hammer presenter revealed his habit which he finds ‘calming and peaceful’ – and even tried to get campmate Adam Thomas in on the act.

Venturing into the jungle to find a perfect tree, Roberts said: “I need to find a mature tree, a good size so I could give it a good hug. luckily the one they’ve built the garden around is one of the biggest in the Jungle.

“When I’m hugging a tree I think all kinds of positive thoughts and go into a bit of a trance.

“I gave the tree a quick introductory hug just to make sure that we could be friends and it gave me back positive vibes. It’s calming and peaceful.”

Taking Thomas out of camp, Roberts asked him to try a bit of tree-hugging – but the Emmerdale actor wasn’t impressed.

“I didn’t feel anything Martin, it felt like hugging a tree,” he confessed. “I didn’t get any life changing experience from it. It was weird, I won’t do it again.”

It turns out it’s not even just in the jungle that Roberts enjoys hugging trees.

“The trees have been here so long but when I go for a walk back home there is a really old oak tree and I give it a hug,” he admitted.
