Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield hilariously gutted as This Morning marks their 10th anniversary with tiny cake

The presenting duo are celebrating a decade on our screens

Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield were hilariously less than impressed when their This Morning colleagues presented them with a tiny cake to mark their 10th anniversary on the show.

The presenting pair celebrated a decade presenting ITV’s magazine programme together in a special episode today.

After Willoughby, 38, and Schofield, 57, introduced the line-up for today’s broadcast, they expressed their hopes that the crew had “pushed the boat out” to mark the special milestone.

On cue, a member of the This Morning team walked onto set holding a small chocolate cake as Kool and the Gang’s Celebration played in the background.

Underwhelmed: The cake was not very impressive

Willoughby immediately blew out the candles beforee joining Schofield looking awkwardly at the camera.

“Well, there you go,” Willoughby said. “In 10 years… isn’t that lovely?”

Schofield raised his eyebrows and wrapped up the underwhelming incident by telling viewers: “And… moving on!”

Luckily, the pair were later surprised with a series of special treats throughout the live broadcast, including a margarita tasting and a takeover segment by Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly.

The I’m A Celebrity duo led a special retrospective of Willoughby and Schofield’s most memorable moments on the show, presented in the style of TV classic This Is Your Life.

The stars were first paired up when they hosted ITV’s Dancing on Ice in 2006, with Willoughby later replacing Fern Britton on This Morning in September 2009.

Earlier today, Willoughby marked the 10th anniversary with an Instagram post, thanking her colleague for "10 years of pure joy and laughter" and telling Schofield that she is "so lucky to share a sofa with you."

Yesterday the This Morning stars addressed their close friendship on screen and off in a touching interview.

Schofield said that he trusts Willoughby “entirely and completely” and described her as “the sister he never had.”

“I adore my brother, but I never had a sister and Holly is like my younger sister and that’s a lovely position to be in,” he added.

Meanwhile Willoughby described her co-star as “somebody that gives great advice, somebody who’s loyal, somebody who makes you laugh and that you can return all of this by being there for them in return.”

This Morning airs weekdays on ITV from 10.30am.
