Britain’s busiest airport is once again opening its doors to the camera crew as ITV viewers get a unique insight inside London Heathrow.

The popular half-hour programme is back for a fourth series tonight, allowing those watching to see what really goes on in one of Europe’s greatest airports.

Returning for six episodes, the series will feature nearly 77,000 employees from ground crew on the tarmac to check in attendants in the terminals – each dealing with a different saga, and with their own story to tell.

What is Heathrow: Britain’s Busiest Airport about?

The successful fly-on-the-wall meets commentary documentary first began airing on ITV back in 2015, immediately intriguing viewers.

Over the years, viewers have got to know workers such as Demi and Sue, passenger managers based in the terminal, and Carrie-Ann and Selina checking people in for their flights. The four will feature once again in the new series, as will transportation expert Hugh.

There are also new faces and names this series including Ian, out on the airfield, and Operations Manager Peter.

And, for the first time ever, this series will feature a unique look at Heathrow’s busy Border Control as cameras follow Bob and Katryna as they make a decision on who comes in and goes out the country on planes.

Oh and, of course, there are a few thousands passengers passing through the airport ready to make their television debut.

What happens in episode one?

The first in the new series promises to be as interesting as any episode gone before.

Demi is faced with some disgruntled passengers while check in staff Carrie-Ann and Selina talk broken hearts and broken luggage belts.

Viewers will also get the first glimpse of life on Border Control as Bob meets a Brazilian man wishing to visit his brother.

Series four begins on Wednesday 2 May at 8pm on ITV, available shortly after on ITV Hub.
