Is Piers Morgan quitting Good Morning Britain? TV presenter hints he won't return in September

Emma Powell26 July 2017

It could be the news many viewers have been waiting for – or a devastating blow for Piers Morgan fans.

The breakfast TV star, 52, appeared to hint today that he could be quitting Good Morning Britain as he kicked off his final show before heading for a summer break.

Morgan, who was as excited as a schoolboy on the last day of term, said: “Can’t say too much. But look at this face, happy face. Got out of bed at 3:45 today, oh it felt good.

“Do you know why it felt good? Never again. Ever. Never getting out of bed at 3:45 again.”

It comes a day after he first teased his potential departure from the breakfast show, telling viewers it was the last time they would see him “possibly ever”.

He said yesterday: “It’s our last day tomorrow before we break up for the summer.

“So last chance to see us, possibly ever.”

Viewers expressed their joy and upset at his comments with one viewer tweeting: “Hooray! Piers is leaving!! Outer Mongolia hopefully!!”

Another said the show would suffer without him, posting: “I think the show will go down hill if you leave Piers. I think you make the show and make my day have a lovely holiday x (sic).”

Reid, and potentially Morgan, will be back on screens in September.

Morgan will be spending the summer at his Beverley Hills home.

Good Morning Britain is on ITV weekdays at 6am.
