Piers Morgan shut down a controversial interview with right-wing American commentator Ann Coulter on Good Morning Britain regarding Donald Trump’s recent comments about ‘banning’ Muslims.
The segment came following the launch of a petition on the UK Government and Parliament website calling for Trump to be “banned from UK entry” for “hate speech”.
Coulter, who has previously clashed with Morgan in interviews, said: “I think what [Trump] said is pretty popular with Americans.”
The guest made several provocative statements, asking “why does our country need [Muslims]?”, and saying that she would “love to deport Americans who are mentally ill or might commit crimes”.
Speaking of the biggest mass shootings in America this year, Morgan argued that “the shooters were white, Christian, Americans” and asked Coulter why she feels it is Muslims who need to be banned.
She replied: “We have our own criminals we have to take care of, why would we bring criminals in?”

After several minutes it seemed like Morgan had finally had enough.
“I think it might be slightly more helpful to the American people if we deported you, Ann Coulter, from America,” Morgan said, leaving his co-presenter Susanna Reid in stunned silence.
After a brief pause, Coulter asked: “Is that your argument?”
“No, that’s a goodbye,” Morgan said, ending the interview. “Talk to you soon.”
Even those who don’t like Morgan were impressed by his response.
