Game of Thrones fan theories: Viewers think Jaime Lannister is ALIVE despite fiery episode five

Game of Thrones fans reckon Jaime Lannister is still alive despite supposedly meeting a fiery end in episode five.

Jaime, played by Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, was one of many faces to be killed off during the penultimate episode of the HBO hit, alongside his on-screen sister and lover Cersei.

But fans have noticed that other cast members haven’t paid tribute to Coster-Waldau on social media, suggesting that he could have possibly found his way out of the crumbling mess in King’s Landing.

One Tumblr user kicked off the theory with several points to make her case, including referring to the silence from one of his closest co-stars Gwendoline Christie.

She wrote: “Why isn’t ANYONE acknowledging that Jaime Lannister just died??? Why is nobody in the cast thanking Nik for his performance? Why did Pilou and Lena’s insta post not say anything about Jaime dying?

“Why isn’t Nik saying anything about what he thinks of the scene? Why did he make a post saying goodbye to Lena [Headey], and not to the character he played for 8 years? Why is there no talk of Jaime’s death in the game revealed?”

Headey, who played Cersei, did post a funny snap with Coster-Waldau, telling fans that she “loves the f****** weirdo” but failed to mention anything about Jaime’s demise.

Coster-Waldau himself only paid tribute to Headey, writing: “The best, sweetest most wonderful sister from another mother @iamlenaheadey. That was a fun decade.”

The theory continued by pointing out that a journalist for Entertainment Weekly had exit interviews with cast members as and when they were killed off, but replied to a fan saying that he was “holding” his one with Coster-Waldau.

The Change.org petition asks the US broadcaster to give fans “a final season that makes sense” and has received more than 240,000 signatures so far.

The appeal comes after viewers were left divided by the events of episode five, The Bells, which saw Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke) burn King’s Landing to the ground, killing thousands of innocent civilians.

Game of Thrones concludes on Monday at 2am on Sky Atlantic and will be repeated at 9pm. It will also be available to stream on demand on NOW TV.
