First Dates waiter Sam re-enacts Love Actually to declare love for Cici in Christmas special

There was a bit of bonus romance in Channel 4’s festive episode

When sparks fly on First Dates, it’s usually between two people that have never met before.

But in the 2016 Christmas special, two of the waiting staff contributed a bit of romance of their own.

Waiter Sam Conrad finally decided to declare his love for fellow staff member Cici Coleman – and chose the perfect way to do it.

Conrad recreated the famous (albeit creepy in context) scene from Love Actually in which Andrew Lincoln’s character reveals his true feelings for Keira Knightly with a series of cue cards.

At the end of the Christmas episode, Conrad held up cards to Coleman reading: “Just because it’s Christmas, and at Christmas you tell the truth – to me, you are perfect.”

The pair embraced in their festive jumpers and paper hats in a touching final moment.

The romantic reference set Twitter into meltdown, with one viewer saying: “My heart of ice is really struggling not to melt right now.”

Are the pair officially a couple? It’s not been confirmed, but Coleman posted a photo of herself with Conrad on Twitter alongside the caption “bless him”.

However, earlier in the series Conrad was reportedly dating Millie – a diner who appeared on the show.

Millie came on to the show for a blind date, but ended her night by getting Conrad’s number instead.

Speaking to The Sun, Conrad said: “We had a lovely couple of days together after the show.

“I’m a very busy guy and Millie is a very busy lady and she’s just started a new job with a lot of travelling so in no way are we going to be announcing an engagement or anything.

“It’s going to be very casual, very simple – I don’t like to over complicate things especially when it’s in the public eye.

“We’re just enjoying it and seeing where it leads.”
