Wayne Woodward and daredevil Alexandr Magala have won themselves a place in the final of this year’s Britain’s Got Talent.

Woodward, 20, received the highest number of votes and was sent through, while Magala had to await his fate in front of the judges alongside ballet dancing husband and wife duo Shannon and Peter.

David Walliams chose to save Magala – who horrified viewers as he slid blindfolded down a pole before landing inches above a bed of spinning drills – because he wants to see “something different”.

Alesha Dixon also opted to save the stunt man and praised his “unique” act while Amanda Holden went “with her heart” and picked Shannon and Peter.

Simon Cowell had the deciding vote, and despite branding Magala “certifiably mad” earlier on in the show, he sent him through to the final because he wanted to give the place “to the person who is prepared to risk their lives”.

Woodward - who covered Frank Sinatra's That's Life in Monday night's semi-final - hugged Ant and Dec as the news was announced and thanked everybody for voting before joking: “I hope everyone has a lovely evening and a safe journey home.”

Magala was equally as thrilled to earn a place in the final – but kept tight lipped about his plans for his next act.

“It’s going to be a surprise even for me,” he said. “There’s always this crazy idea in my mind that doesn’t let me sleep at night so I will bring them onto here.”

The talented duo will join 100 Voices of Gospel and mother and son duo Mel and Jamie in this weekend’s live final.

Britain’s Got Talent is on ITV tomorrow at 7:30pm.
