Benedict Cumberbatch has joked that Judge Rinder’s marriage may not be legal.

The Sherlock actor became an ordained minister when he officiated Robert Rinder's wedding to Seth Cummings in 2013.

Speaking to Graham Norton about the special day, Cumberbatch said: “I performed his marriage ceremony in Ibiza for him and his partner.

“I am sure it is legitimate!”

Cumberbatch and Rinder became friends after meeting at Manchester University – but despite a lengthy friendship, the Doctor Strange actor had no idea how good a dancer the TV judge is.

Rinder has become a favourite among Strictly Come Dancing viewers following his near-topless cha cha with Oksana Platero and Cumberbatch said he has been ‘filled with pride’.

“He is extraordinary. I had no idea he could dance like that,” he told Norton.

“To see a dear friend do something so unexpectedly brilliant like that fills me with pride. When it gets crucial, I’ll vote for him!”

Cumberbatch was joined on the sofa by fellow thespian Eddie Redmayne who opened up about his fear of Comic-Con.

Redmayne revealed he had to get a pep talk from his Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them co-star Colin Farrell because he was “chronically nervous” ahead of the event.

He told Norton: “I’d heard from friends what the experience was, but I had no idea how big it would be and I was chronically nervous to the extent that I had Colin Farrell giving me a back rub and whispering sweet nothings into my ear trying to calm me down.

“You go on in front of 1000s of people and you feel like a wannabe Justin Bieber!”

Despite an Academy Award and a string of films to his name, Redmayne said starring in the Harry Potter spin-off has

“People say, ‘Are you prepped for it?’ But I’m not sure what that means,” he said. “I had a weird moment on the tube today. I was sitting there and suddenly a flash goes off from the person opposite me.

“I looked up, they looked at me and I looked at them and then there was a really awkward 47 seconds as I waited for the next stop and dashed off.”

Breaking Bad’s Bryan Cranston was also on the show as well as LeAnn Rimes who performed her new single, The Story.

The Graham Norton Show is on BBC One tonight at 10:35pm.
