Ben Miller bringing Horrible Science to CITV

The comedian will produce and star in messy new educational science series

After Horrible Histories made the jump from Nick Arnold’s books to become the cult BBC historical sketch show that adults love to watch as much as kids do, it’s time for Arnold’s other book series to hit the screen.

Horrible Science is currently filming to arrive on CITV, starring comedian Ben Miller. As with Horrible Histories, Arnold’s book series offers an educational look at his topics through the gross, the gory and the gooey. Each episode will be themed around scientific areas including ‘Gruesome Guts’, ‘Vicious Veg’, and ‘Bulging Brains’, with comedy sketches, experiments and songs.

The show comes from Alexander Armstrong and Ben Miller’s production company Toff, with a ten-episode first series arriving later this year.

“I've loved science ever since I was a kid, and making Horrible Science has been a dream come true,” Miller says. “The utterly brilliant Horrible Science books have given us a wealth of characters, jokes, and - as they would put it - "squishy bits" to plunder, and we haven't held back."

In each episode, a different guest star will play a celebrated scientist from history, with Alexander Armstrong, Marcus Garvey and David Armand already confirmed to appear.
