BBC 6 Music news reporter swears live on air after fumbling Jeremy Hunt’s name

Niki Cardwell accidentally dropped the ‘c-bomb’ in a political news report

A BBC 6 Music news reporter accidentally swore live on air during a political broadcast, stumbling over Jeremy Hunt’s name.

The gaffe, which aired during the 10.30am news, saw Niki Cardwell say ‘Jeremy C***’, before immediately correcting her mistake – though of course it was too late by then.

Reading the headline, Cardwell said: “The Health Secretary Jeremy C***-Hunt says he’s disappointed that junior doctors in England are going to strike in a row about a new contract.”

Of course, Twitter users picked up on the error immediately – but rather than reacting angrily, many seemed to see the funny side.

It’s not the first time that Hunt’s name has caused someone to swear on air – back in December 2010, Today Programme presenter James Naughtie made the slip-up before 8am.

Just an hour later Andrew Marr made the same mistake when talking about Naughtie’s error.
