Axed Strictly Come Dancing professional Brendan Cole could be heading to the US version of the dancing show, Dancing with the Stars.

The ABC show enjoys two successful runs a year, one of which overlaps with Strictly in the UK, with Bruno Tonioli flying back and forth to judge both shows.

And former head judge on the BBC show, Len Goodman, who now solely appears on DWTS, has reportedly sung Cole’s praises to the US television producers.

A source told The Sun: “Brendan is really interested in a move over to LA to appear in Dancing with the Stars.

“It’s a real compliment that they are interested and would be a big two fingers up to Strictly who unceremoniously dropped him. He sees it as a fresh start potentially and a way to make a new career for himself.

“Dancing with the Stars attracts massive US names and is on twice a year so financially he could be so much better off, as well as all the other opportunities it would open him up too.”

And according to Cole, the 73-year-old reached out to him following his dismissal, saying: “Don’t worry. Bigger and better things will come to you.”

Evening Standard Online have contacted representatives for Cole and Goodman.

ABC declined to comment on the rumours when contacted.

The New Zealand-born dancer – who won the very first series with Natasha Kaplinsky - revealed he had been dropped from Strictly after 15 series during an emotional chat with Lorraine Kelly.

The 41-year-old said: “It’s quite, actually, hard to talk about. The BBC haven’t renewed my contract. We get contracted year upon year. They’ve made an editorial decision to not have me back on the show. I’m a little bit in shock. I’m quite emotional, a bit raw about it.

“I have had 15 incredible series on the show, I’m very proud of the whole show, they’re a great team. I’m disappointed. It’s very hard to talk about. It’s a recent decision.
