Ant and Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway viewers have accused the show’s Win the Ads competition of being a ‘fix’ after the contestant changed his answer.

Win the Ads offers one audience member on the ITV show the chance to win items featured in the show’s advert breaks – with the latest instalment featuring contestant Neil Scott.

After the initial game, the window cleaner opted to gamble his winnings in order to nab every item from the ads.

To win it, Scott was asked: “The Statue of Liberty in New York is depicted holding a torch and a tablet. In which hand is she holding her torch – her left hand or her right hand?”

The contestant seemed stumped by the question, and admitted: “I could say left, I haven’t got a clue.”

The audience audibly cried out at the wrong answer – at which point Scott changed his response.

“You’re going to say what?” Ant asked, waiting for confirmation of the answer.

Scott replied, laughing: “Right! I’ll say right.”

As the audience cheered, Scott embraced Ant and Dec and said: “Cheers for that, cheers for that.”

Ant responded: “I’m not finishing the series with a loser, believe me!”

Among the prizes Scott won was a holiday to Mexico and a Vauxhall Mokka car.

Some viewers were unimpressed that Scott was allowed to win, with previous contestants losing out after their first incorrect answer was accepted.

Writing on Twitter, one audience member said they were “very disappointed” with the outcome.

Still, some viewers were far more lenient with their responses.

A spokesperson for ITV said: "We are thrilled for the contestant who played win the ads and delighted by the response to our end of series finale at Disney World in Florida.”

The final episode of the series swapped the usual studio setting for the sunshine of Florida, where the crew and audience were flown out to the Disney World theme park.
