Amber and Dolly: 9 to 5: everything you need to know as the Love Island star meets her musical hero

Davies has swapped the Love Island villa for the West End

Former Love Island winner Amber Davies is set to share her journey to the West End – via Nashville – in a one-off reality show.

Amber and Dolly: 9 to 5, which will air on ITVBe tonight, follows the 22-year-old as she prepares to appear in the West End production of 9 to 5, the theatrical adaptation of the 1980 movie.

Having trained in musical theatre before heading to Majorca to find love on the ITV2 show in 2017, this is Davies’ biggest role yet – and she’s even given the chance to meet her idol Dolly Parton.

Here’s everything you need to know about the hour-long special.

What is Amber and Dolly: 9 to 5 all about?

Before filling out her Love Island application, Davies had dreams of West End stardom.

A talented singer and dancer, she put her theatrical ambitions on hold while appearing in the show, and is thought to have turned down a part in Hairspray in order to spend her summer in the show’s infamous villa.

However, she has since returned to her first love after landing the role of Judy Bernly in 9 to 5, a part played by Fonda in the original film, which sees three colleagues band together in order to get revenge on their misogynistic boss.

Amber and Dolly: 9 to 5 follows Davies’ musical journey from vocal coaching and rigorous dance rehearsals to the show’s opening night, with appearances from her co-stars Louise Redknapp (who is yet to perform in the show after suffering an injury at the start of the year) and Brian Conley – and her former Love Island co-star Olivia Attwood.

Plus, the cameras have also captured Davies’ trip to Nashville, where she comes face to face with her idol Parton to gain more of an insight into the demands of her role.

“Performing on the West End has long been a dream of mine, and something I have been working towards my whole life,” Davies has said of the experience.

“There really is not better role to play and having the opportunity to meet and work with Dolly Parton is another lifetime’s ambition fulfilled.”

In a recent interview with The Sun, Davies even suggested that Parton has “taken [her] under her wing,” describing her as “precious.”

“I couldn’t believe it – not only does Dolly know who I am, she wants to look out for me,” she told the paper, adding: “She sees her 22-year-old self in me.”

When is Amber and Dolly: 9 to 5 on TV?

The one-off special airs on February 27 at 9pm on ITVBe.
