This week's comedy choice

10 April 2012
LEE EVANS

The elasticated clown's tour seems to be stretching out forever. Evans has been on the road since March and will now be hardnosing the highway until June, with a West End run planned for the autumn. Southend's finest is an accomplished on-screen comic actor, with a movie co-starring Jackie Chan in the can, but he is in his true element in the flesh, mixing fallabout hilarity with no-filler, all-killer observational gags. If you can't get a ticket for these dates, he's back in Croydon on Sunday 30 June.
Wed 29 May, Fairfield Halls, Park Lane, Croydon (020 8688 9291). For full tour information, call 0906 558 1057 (60p per minute).

DANIEL KITSON

There ar e a lot of good young comedians around at the moment, but few who have a distinctive fully-formed onstage persona as striking and as memorable as Kitson. This bespectacled unassuming figure looks like the geek from hell, but his material is pure genius. Last year's Perrier-nominated show was very. very loosley autobiographical, inspired by a history of sexual frustration and nonconformism. This year's work promises to be every bit as compelling, with Kitson extracting further comical nuggets from his twisted psyche.
Daniel Kitson : Wednesday 29 May, Canal Cafe, Delamere Terrace, W2 (020 7289 6054).
