Dame Hilda Bracket dies at 60

Patrick Fyffe, of the comedy drag double-act Hinge and Bracket, has died at 60 from cancer.

Fyffe, who played Dame Hilda Bracket to George Logan's Dr Evadne Hinge died on Saturday at his Somerset home.

His agent and manager, Phil Dale, said today: "He had been fighting cancer since Christmas when he suddenly had to cancel his pantomime." Hinge and Bracket burst on to the comedy scene at the 1974 Edinburgh Festival. For three years they had their own show - Dear Ladies - on BBC2 and toured Britain and the world, including appearances at two Royal Variety Performances. They were household names in the Seventies. Four years ago one fan left Fyffe most of her worldly goods, including her house.
