All the fun of the fair

10 April 2012

After the success of last autumn's Bingo, in which the Dutch company Theatregroep Flint persuaded Hammersmith audiences to get their eyes down for the cash prize, the Riverside Studios offers its punters another chance to do more than simply sit as passive spectators of a play.

This is thanks to a new comedy, Happytime Park (No Refunds), devised by Crazy Horse Theatre Company.

They intriguingly promise a 'miniature, fully functional theme park from the comfort of your seat... Fondle the mascot! Eat the sponsored foods! Walk through the mind of a killer!'

Under the direction of Dylan Ritson (an alumnus of the National Theatre Studio's young directors course), seven performers will act as guides for a trip round what sounds like the theme park from hell, 'an entertainment gulag of overfed customers and underpaid staff'.

With a run of sell-out scratch performances at the BAC earlier this year, it seems the Happytime Park team might just be entitled to some celebratory sticks of candyfloss.
