James Bay was the star attraction at a charity gig raising money to tackle food poverty.

The Brit Award-winner, 28, took to the stage at St Stephen’s Church in Shepherd’s Bush for the Felix Project.

Thousands of fans had bid £5 in an online ballot for tickets to Friday’s sell-out show, which saw performances from Tom Walker, The Staves, Benjamin Francis Leftwich, Maisie Peters, Matt Maltese and Adam French.

Radio X DJ Mazin Tappuni, a long-time Felix Project supporter who organised the event, said: “The Felix Project continue to do incredible things for so many Londoners who need the food that would have otherwise gone to waste.”

The DJ, the charity’s chief executive Hilary Croft and Felix’s brother Daniel Byam Shaw, added: “It’s a charity that I am incredibly proud to volunteer for. I hope this event will go a short way to helping them continue doing the wonderful things they do.”

Founded in 2016 by Felix Byam Shaw’s family, the Felix Project collects surplus food from supermarkets and other suppliers and delivers it free to more than 200 charities and schools in London.

The event raised more than £13,000 for the charity, which was at the heart of the Standard’s Help a Hungry Child campaign.
