It's almost time for Pokémon GO Fest and that means there are new events happening in-game.

In celebration of the augmented reality game's fourth anniversary, there will be new weekly challenges dropping throughout the summer, adding multiple events all the way up to the Pokémon GO Fest.

All people who play GO, regardless of whether you've bought a Fest 2020 ticket, will be able to take part in three weekly challenges.

These tasks will come in the form of Timed Research challenges. For completing the Timed Research lines, players will be able to unlock addition species of Pokémon that will be appearing during the Fest.

Pokémon GO fourth anniversary week one skill challenges:

The first set of challenges will go live on Friday, July 3 at 8am and last until July 8.

Complete all three sets of tasks in the GO Fest Weekly Challenge: Skill Timed Research to earn an encounter with Ducklett, an encounter with flying Pikachu, a Star Piece, and more.

This first weekly challenge will focus on catching Pokémon, so be sure to perfect your throwing technique ahead of July 3.

During the fourth-anniversary event, special Pokémon will be appearing in the wild, hatching from Eggs, and appearing in raids. You'll be able to find a flying Pikachu and, if you’re lucky, you might find a Shiny variant of it as well.

Week 2: Battle-based challenge

Get your Pokémon ready for battle in preparation for these battle-based challenges.

This set of tasks will go live on Friday, July 10 at 8am until July 15

Completing three of these will net you an encounter with Hitmonlee, Absol, a Super Rocket Radar, and more.

Week 3: Friendship-based challenge

In the third Pokémon GO Fest weekly challenge, it’ll be time to celebrate the friendship aspects of the game

This challenge will be available from July 17 until 22 just a few days before Pokémon GO Fest 2020 starts.

The Timed Research will be accompanied by an event that celebrates summer. As part of this, Summer Style Pikachu will be appearing in the wild and hatching from Eggs, and Petilil, the Bulb Pokémon, will be making its Pokémon GO debut.

Completing these friendship challenges will earn you an encounter with Alolan Raichu, Petilil, and give you a Lucky Egg.

Pokémon GO Fest will take place entirely online this year due to the coronavirus. The Fest celebrations will begin on July 25.
