Travis Mathews offers a believable slice of San Franciscan life with his graphic debut feature
28 June 2013

It's a tad inconsequential, but Travis Mathews offers a believable slice of San Franciscan life with his graphic debut feature. Depressed Jesse (Jesse Metzger) is so hard-up he's heading back to Ohio. Everyone has a great time at his leaving party; everyone except him. Mathews makes intercourse look delicious (the unlikely tryst between Jesse's shy ex and a gabbling extrovert is a highlight). Yet, for all the euphoric humping, the atmosphere is deliberately strained. It's a neat twist that, via Jesse, we realise just how insufficient sex can be.
