Getaway - film review

The plot of this car crash movie involves corporate chicanery, gadgets and many shots of Ethan Hawke’s shoes
6 December 2013

One of the worst films of the year, by a country mile. Ethan Hawke — who clearly wishes he was Ryan Gosling in Drive — zooms around Sofia, capital of Bulgaria, in a fast car, chewing a matchstick. His wife has been kidnapped by a maniac, so he has to keep driving. The plot involves corporate chicanery, gadgets and many shots of Hawke’s shoes. Along the way he’s joined by a bratty teen (Selena Gomez). He finds her annoying but she grows on him. She finds him annoying but he grows on her. Stop this car, I wanna get out!
