All dragged up, nowhere to go

Jenny Livingstone's documentary is not about Paris or burning but observes and interviews the New York drag queens who compete in "voguing" balls.

Mostly black and Hispanic, they come from the bottom of the pile, living marginal lives of prostitution and thieving off-stage.

This is their chance for a chink of light in their often dangerous existence. Livingstone's film is sympathetic and clear-headed as if to say that it takes all sorts to make the world go round.
