The Banqueting House in Whitehall, where Charles I was beheaded, was the backdrop for the Star Diamond Place for Peace dinner, hosted by US film star Forest Whitaker and philanthropist Ella Krasner last night.

Among the guests were actor James McAvoy and Trudie Styler, film producer and yoga guru.

Russian model Natalia Vodianova bid £15,000 at the auction for the PeaceEarth Foundation to act opposite Jonathan Rhys Meyers in a new adaptation of Dracula.
