1 December: Advent Sunday Carol Service

Herald the start of advent at this famous service. The Sung Eucharist, when the first candle is lit, will be held at 10:00 followed by the Advent Carol Service at 18:30.

2 December: Royal Philharmonic Christmas Concert

Family outing to hear the sounds of Christmas. From 'White Christmas' to 'Sleigh Ride' and 'Scarlet Ribbons' to Christmas carols all conducted by the mellow hand of John Rutter. Nigel Havers narrates a performance of Debbie Wiseman's 'The Ugly Duckling'.

5 December: The Celebration of Christmas

The Mental Health Foundation’s celebrity carol concert of festive music and readings will be introduced by Esther Rantzen with music from the celebrated London Chorus, conducted by Ronald Corp, London City Brass and soprano Kate Royal. Starts: 7.15pm

6 December: The Urdang Academy Christmas Carols

A wonderful variety of choral tunes will be sung by students from the Urdang
Academy school of performing arts, between 11am-12pm. And The Rock Garden Music Nights will take place every Thursday throughout December

7 December: Hospitals' Christmas Carol Concert

The Massed Hospitals' Choir returns to the Royal Festival Hall for its annual treat of traditional carols and Christmas music. The first concert took place in the Royal Festival Hall in 1968 under the baton of Charles Farncombe, the conductor for this evening. There is a charitable twist this year with the choirs singing to raise funds for the National Autistic Society.

8 - 15 December: Christmas Carols in the Stableyard


Be transported back in time to the first Christmas. Osterley Park’s magnificent 16th century stables are the setting for this annual carol singing event that takes place at 14:30 each day. Mulled wine and mince pies will be on sale.

8 - 15 December Carols in the Great Hall

The Great Hall of this unique 17th century building plays host to the National Trust’s season of carol concerts, with two events for adults and children alike. Enjoy a very English festive experience in this breathtaking setting.

11 December: Carol Service by Candlelight

Opened with an address by Cherie Booth QC, the Breast Cancer Care's carol service will help you get into the Christmas spirit. Further readings by celebrity supporters Prunella Scales, Simon Callow and Penelope Keith. Money raised will got to Breast Cancer Care.

13 December: Candlelit Carols

13 December: 'A Christmas Evening'

Enjoy a festive evening of celebrity readings, music and carols. Readings
by Steve Coogan, Oz Clarke, Hannah Gordon, Patricia Hodge and Moira Lister.
The line-up also includes the premier of 'Birthday Sleep' by the composer
Sir John Tavener. All profits will go to the Westminster Pilgrimage
Charity. 19.30 and finishes at 21.00

14 December: Carols in Covent Garden: Courage to Sing

A spectacular performance for 'Courage to Sing' will be performed in the heart of Covent Garden on behalf of the NSPCC from 11am-1pm

10 - 20 December: Spitalfields Winter Festival

This is a special series of community carol concerts and musical events. Spitalfields Church is undergoing restoration so this year’s events are taking place at the stunning baroque Shoreditch Church. Enjoy a moment of calm amid the Christmas hustle and bustle.

15 December: The Glory of Christmas

16 December: Royal Choral Society Christmas Carols

19 December: Nonsuch Singers "Make we Joy"

The Nonsuch singers will be conducted by the choir's Director, Graham Caldbeck and they will be joined by soloists Richard Pearce (organ) and Oliver Cox and Owen Gunnell (both percussion). A diverse and imaginative programme of Christmas music includes Walton's Four Carols, Poulenc's Quatre motets pour le temps de Noel, other seasonal works by Byrd, Dove, Rutter, Tavener and Morten Lauridsen as well as Gregorian chant, Spanish and Nigerian songs and traditional carols for audience.

21 December: Stars at Christmas — SOS Concordia Christmas Concert

This star studded Christmas gala will fill the Royal Festival Hall with seasonal cheer. Dame Vera Lynn will host this spectacular evening of classic carols, readings and other festivities. All profits will go to the Cerebral Palsy and Concordia Foundation.
