V8 curry house chain sold to mystery buyer

11 April 2012

Collapsed curry house chain V8 Gourmet was sold today in a curious deal to a mystery buyer for an undisclosed sum.

The company that was 30% owned by Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty fell into administration two weeks ago.

Today a deal that keeps the owner of the Tiffinbites and Bombay Bicycle Club chain in operation was agreed, though not much detail was forthcoming.

"The purchaser wishes to remain anonymous," said a spokesman, a position that is unlikely to endure for long.

The deal protects, at least for a while, the jobs of 264 staff who operate across 17 stores and takeaway sites.

The sale was handled by Mayfair-based outfit Re10.
