Innocent smoothies in the dock but its sales shoot up

Smooth operator: firm is on the move
11 April 2012

Smoothies maker Innocent Drinks today signed a deal to move from its Shepherd's Bush home Fruit Towers to a headquarters in west London.

The firm, set up by three Cambridge graduates in 1999 after they quit their jobs in consulting and advertising, is moving to new offices at Portobello Dock on the Grand Union Canal in Ladbroke Grove.

It comes as the firm goes from strength to strength. It turns over more than £100 million a year, employs some 250 people, and sells two million smoothies a week in the UK.

The rise of Innocent has not been without controversy, however. The company, renowned for its ethical ethos, attracted criticism for deals with McDonald's and Coca-Cola.

The Portobello Dock deal marked the 100th letting of the year for landlord Derwent London.
