Clubcard gets £150m revamp from Tesco

Ringing in the changes: Tesco is revamping its Clubcard scheme
Lucy Tobin11 April 2012

TESCO is today splashing out £150 million on luring more customers by relaunching its Clubcard loyalty scheme, a month after posting figures showing sales surpassing £1 billion a week.

From Monday, Clubcard vouchers, which could previously be cashed in at face value in Tesco stores or worth up to four times the amount if swapped for deals with partners like Pizza Express, will be worth double if used to pay for goods at the chain's supermarkets.

The UK's largest retailer already has 15 million Clubcard customers, but hopes the scheme will attract at least a million more.

Tesco shares rose 2.9p to 347.9p.
