OFT looking at US swoop for Clinton

US greetings cards firm American Greetings’ swoop for 397 shops owned by collapsed Clinton Cards has caught the attention of the UK’s trading watchdog.

The Office of Fair Trading is examining whether the deal will result in a “substantial lessening of competition”.

Around 3000 jobs have been lost after Clinton’s failure, with administrators set to close unsold shops.
